A cloudberry plant or bakeapple plant grows wild in the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland, Canada and if the fruit of the cloudberry is an amber color like this one, they are ready for eating. If the fruit is still a pale red color, then it is not quite ready. They are very similar to that of a salmonberry in looks but the taste can be very tart and if overripe they have the same texture as that of yogurt.
