The Niagara River runs for approximately 35 miles and the scenery from the Niagara Parkway in Niagara Falls, Ontario is beautiful just upstream from the Horseshoe Falls before the water thunders over the cliffs. There are two power plants along the Niagara River, one on the Canadian side in Ontario and the other on the American side.
Along the Niagara River, between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie, there is a drop of approximately 326 feet in elevation with the deepest section of the river being just below the Horseshoe Falls. The upper part of the river runs 22 miles which begins 0.6 miles from the Horseshoe Falls.
