A couple of people linger on the sandy shores of Lake Winnipeg as the white clouds above suddenly turn dark and bring the threat of a storm to the town of Winnipeg Beach in Manitoba. Across the horizon, the rain is pelting down which appears that it could be short lived as one dark storm cloud is surrounded by blue sky.
Lake Winnipeg is a large freshwater lake which covers an area of approximately 9,465 square miles, it being the fifth largest in Canada. During the summer months, the town of Winnipeg Beach can become fairly busy as people come here to enjoy the beauty of 3 kilometers of sandy beach. Swimming and tanning are enjoyed by many, but others love the fishing, sailing, windsurfing and boating.
