At the entrance to the RCMP Heritage Centre in the City of Regina, Saskatchewan, there are two mascots, a black bear and a moose, two of the most important species of wildlife in the area. Dressed in the highest ranked uniforms and adorned in brown stetson hats and red jackets, these mascots make people smile as they enter the world of the RCMP and learn of its history.
The wildlife mascots are what lights up the eyes of children before beginning their adventure of the RCMP history. The RCMP Heritage Centre in the City of Regina opened in May of 2007 and has become one of the most popular tourist attractions.
The RCMP has been an important part of Canada for over a hundred years and plays a significant role in the heritage and culture. The building is housed in a stone, glass and concrete building designed by Arthur Erickson, a well known architect where the exhibits, the wildlife mascots and the multimedia technology keeps visitors intrigued while touring through the heritage centre.
